G(irls)20 Summit Video - "Raise Your Voice"

"Raise Your Voice" was written and created by the wonderful folks at Bensimon Byrne.  We had the pleasure of composing an inspirational orchestral score to compliment the visual narrative.

The video was shown and created for the G(irls)20 Summit in Paris, France.
What's the G(irls)20 Summit you ask? Well, the Summit brings together one delegate from each G20 country plus a representative from the chair country of the African Union.  Delegates debate, discuss and design innovative ideas necessary to empower girls and women globally.  While the agenda is the same as the G20 leaders and focusses on economic innovation - the participants are all girls, aged 18-20.

We're very proud to have been a part of such a special and influential project.

Enjoy!

HAROSHI: FUTURE PRIMITIVE EXHIBITION

Japanese artist Haroshi is getting a lot of attention lately on his method of recycling used skateboard decks into works of art.  Haroshi honours traditional Japanese methods while hiding metal objects within his pieces as to "give a soul" to the statues.  X Ray images are then used to reveal the concealed objects.

You can view his complete collection here

Contagion - Bacteria Billboard

Warner Bros. Pictures Canada recently created an outdoor installation that combined science and advertising.

Microbiologists and immunologists across the globe came together to create a one of a kind bacteria message board in an abandoned store-front window at 409 Queen Street West.  On August 28th, two large petri dishes were injected with various forms of live bacteria and overnight revealed a visually creative analysis on how a virus can spread.

The message board is in support of Steven Soderbergh's latest film "Contagion" which premiered in theatres September 9th.

Congrats to Warner Bros. Pictures Canada and the Lowe Roche team on a fantastic collaboration!

World Record South Pole Expedition 2011

What is the "World Record South Pole Expedition" you ask?

This December a three man team will take a journey in the revolutionary Thomson Reuters Polar Vehicle with the goal of beating the Guiness World Record of 2 days, 21 hours and 21 minutes to become the fastest overland journey to the South Pole.  This will  mark the 100 year anniversary of the first successful attempt of Norwegian explorer Ronald Amundsen.

The Thomson Reuters Polar Vehicle is a specially-built bio-fuelled vehicle that uses half the fuel of similar vehicles. The use of solar panels will reduce the carbon footprint further with the very latest in real-time GPS Satellite communications and tracking.

One lucky winner has the chance to take part in an overland race to the South Pole based on a submission detailing what customers wanted to see more of and less of in the new financial era.  4,300 entries we received, Jason Thomas, became the third member of a three-man team of polar explorers with his "More Access. Less Excess" contest entry.

Congrats Jason! We wish you all the best for a safe and exciting adventure.

Blues in D

"Blues in D" started as Dylan and Cody Ellis on lead guitars, Tura Cousins-Wilson on drums and Ben McPhee rocking the vocals, bass and rhythm guitar.

On June 13th, 2008, the band suffered a terrible loss.  Dylan Ellis and Oliver Martin were gunned down in their vehicle while idling at Richmond and Walnut St. in Toronto.  After such a tragic event the band changed their name from "The BDC Blues Band" to "Blues in D" in honour of their former friend and band member.  The band now consists of Cody Ellis, Jeff Bader, Andrei Zagorevski, Tura Cousins-Wilson, and Ben McPhee.

Their recent EP "Leaving Houston was produced, mixed and engineered by Dan Horton here at Tattoo.
It showcases their raw, passionate and bluesy roots.

Check out their songs here.
