Rivet Gallery just dropped news on their exclusive O-No Sushi figure by Andrew Bell. This mono-esque figure release takes place on March 16th at 12PM EST and will be available at the store and online. Limited to one per customer/household and is limited to only 150 pieces at $35 each.

Patrick Leung Dark Matters ‘NGA4′ Resin Characters

Here we have the tooth-shaped ‘NGA4′ resin figure designed by Paddy Leung of Dark Matters. Based in Toronto, Dark Matters is a designer toy collective founded with the intention of putting Toronto on the toy map. Standing at just under 3-inches tall, the NGA4 is hand-cast in polyurethane resin and then hand-painted by Leung. Each of the 30 figures features a laser-cut number that denotes its place in the series.

Kaws & Original Fake

The much anticipated Kaws 4 Feet Dissected Companion Original Fake Black Version toy has been announced. Over the last months we have seen several teasers and today we can give you a release date for the Original Fake Tokyo flagship store. The black Dissected Companion will go on sale on December 19th.

I find myself reverting back to a kid that wants to collect toys more and more these days.

‘Zoo Art’ is the term Amsterdam-based artist Esty Gertzman might prefer to call her plush characters. It is a collection of fantasy figures and animals, which are hand-made of wool, felt and plush fabrics since Esty started to share her passion in 1991.

Recycled Toy Sculptures

Robert Bradford creates his life-size and larger-than-life sculptures of humans and animals from discarded plastic items, mainly toys but also other colorful plastic bits and pieces, such as combs and buttons, brushes and parts of clothes pegs.

Contrary to some reports, he’s not a self-taught artist who tinkered in his shed one day and suddenly decided to create something out of his kids’ discarded toys. He is a London-born and U.K. and U.S.-trained visual artist who, like many artists, also had another career on the side. His was that of a psychotherapist.



In 2002, he started to consider the possibilities that his children’s forgotten toys could have as part of something bigger. Bradford says he likes the idea that the plastic pieces have a history, some unknown past, and that they also pass on a “cultural” history as each of the pieces represents a point in time. Recycling is not his primary concern, but each sculpture certainly keeps quite a few pieces from becoming landfill. Some of the sculptures contain pieces from up to 3,000 toys and sell for £12,000 (US$19,000). - Tuija Seipell

Kidrobot x Stones Throw = Quasimoto

Kidrobot and Stones Throw have joined forces and created Quasimoto, rapper/producer Madlib's alter ego. It's going to be released tomorrow (February 19, 2009 at 11AM EST on the Kidrobot online store). The Quasimoto figure is 8-inches tall, available in yellow and blue (1333 of each) with a brick in hand and joint in mouth.

BEST: Sneakers and Toys

Overkill recently teamed up with Nike and did the official release of the Nike Cortez Pack on January 31st. The worldwide pack will be released on February 14th. The pack comes with 2 pairs of sneakers. One which is blue is based on the classic 1972 style Cortez and the other a silver metallic which embodies a forward thinking, futuristic 2009 look.

To promote the release of the sneakers Tokyoplastic created two characters Phil & Bill, based on Nike's co-founders Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. And there is even this slick animation film so you can see how these little guys move.
